In my last posting, I indicated that Representative Collins' HB1077 might be voted out of the Senate Judiciary Committee, where it faced opposition, and given a floor vote in the Senate where it would most likely pass.
On Thursday, this did not happen. The bill was still on the agenda, but it was never discussed. And the committee is "in adjournment" today.
The Arkansas 90th General Assembly was extended until April 10, 2015, but isn't obligated to stay in session if its full business is concluded, so we do not know how much longer the 90th will operate. It could potentially adjourn as early as Thursday, April 2.
And I have heard very little about the current status of Representative Collins' bill.
There are simply no tea leaves in my cup to read—so I'll refrain from uninformed speculation.
But once again, and as always: a very sincere thank you to all who have supported our initiative to keep our campus safe and free from guns.
When I hear more, I will, of course, let you know immediately.
